By far, the most profitable model for eCommerce is
becoming the download revenue model. When you sell
a download, you have already delivered the product
before you learn of the sale, so there is no shipping to
pay, and your customer is already 'satisfied' before you
know the sale has taken place. Downloads are
inexpensive, too, so you reach a larger audience.

The Facts You Want:
Whether you want to offer 99 cent music downloads or
marketing reports costing several thousand dollars, the
key is to get the word out to folks who are looking for
what you offer. Sometimes this means spending
thousands in advertising. But there are other ways
to get the word out, too if you are clever.
The cost of licensing,
producing, authoring, or creating your content may be
high, but it could also be quite low (imagine MP3s of a
great garage band).
If you can develop or license a
downloadable product that achieves high demand (either
thru a high download count of a cheap product, or just a
few downloads of an expensive product) then you can
